Parts Group: Fuel rail with injectors and fuel pressure regulator
By removing the fuse to the main fuel pump, while the engine was running, I could starve the fuel system of fuel, and have the fuel pressure in the fuel rail be almost zero. I found the fuse box under the passenger footwell outboard kick panel, and removed the rightmost fuse in the blue section, which is the 4th row, counting from the top.
Sure enough, the engine stopped running. Later, when I removed the fuel lines from the fuel pressure regulator, there was hardly any fuel pressure, which made it a clean and safe procedure.
I also removed the battery from the car, and wrote a note that I taped to the steering wheel with wording such as: "Risk of fire due to open fuel lines. Do not attempt to start this car."
